Opus Project: Contour Sketch
The seventh graders will begin their twelve weeks with an Opus project introducing  a Contour Sketch with Repeated Pattern.  The Color Unit will begin on December 16th with notes on color value. The class will make a value chart using black to make shades and white to make tints. Sixth period will sketch from observation from the displays in the classroom and seventh will design a Mardi Gras mask.  The projects will be finished by using tempera paint with values.  After the holidays, both classes will be introduced to pottery making, where they will spend about a week in slab making and then they will glaze their creations.  Towards the end of January they will begin stitchery, which is always a highlight of the seventh grade.  We look forward to an exciting and productive 12 weeks.
Tissue Paper Collage
Presently, the students in the seventh grade are working on a drawing to be completed with tissue paper. Sixth Period is drawing a bouquet of flowers from observation while seventh period is working on an abstract design. Both classes will ink their drawings with a permanent marker, then they will fill in the shapes with colored tissue paper thus creating a collage. Mod podge will be used to adhere the tissue paper to the white drawing paper.
